This print series depicts an individual’s connection to their community and how one’s interpersonal relationships have the power to influence one’s personality, attitude, and quality of life. Inspired by concepts related to unity, the goal of this piece is to represent someone offering something to others as well as the opportunity to take what others have offered in return. Whether that item is a part of their identity or a more physical presentation of care, the exchanges one experiences in daily life are always associated with the interactions one has with others. Through unity, or connection with other individuals, there is the possibility for deeper understanding on a mental or emotional level.

One of the main design elements that help to portray unity in this work are the repetition of shapes and marks. Though they vary in size and color, the circles allow for the composition to be connected in addition to providing a circular movement around the work. This also relates to the cyclic nature of the connection between individuals conceptually represented. Also, the hatching in the figure and hands allows this shape to be distinct from the circular motif while merging the elements meant to represent the individual. Overall, there is symmetry which allows the eye to move uninterrupted throughout the piece.
